Life on the prairie has always been hard. Extreme weather, extreme people and extreme circumstances that don’t improve. Failure is a way of life that hardens people, sometimes for the better, most often for the worst. You can find solace and redemption in places like these but then people get sick, grow old or just get tired and give up. The images may evoke nostalgia for a simpler way of life, while the truth lingers in the shade, knowing that no one will be coming home.
