Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge – designed by Santiago Calatrava – a beautiful bridge spanning a river that is so polluted, it’s not recommended for human contact. In the summer you can smell the river – it stinks from all of the bacteria in it. But if you’re in your air conditioned car with the windows rolled up the smell is not too bad. i drive to work across this bridge everyday and while there are plans to clean up the river, I don’t see anyone working on cleaning up the river, I do see that the City of Dallas is building another beautiful bridge across the river. Soon there will be two beautiful bridges across the polluted, stinking river. But then who cares if bacteria from Dallas ends up in Houston! All of this polluted water ends up in the Houston Ship Channel, the most toxic waterway in the state!
